Kara focuses her practice on corporate matters, including commercial transactions, business entity formation, mergers & acquisitions, and real estate. In addition, Kara represents manufacturers, distributors, and clients in supply chain procurement issues, licensing, real estate acquisition and sale, and leasing. Kara also has a passion for intellectual property, media, and entertainment matters. As an attorney at Capes Sokol, she represents production companies, independent film projects, digital entertainment companies, artists, and social media content creators in connection with their business formation and deal structure as well as network contracts. She also assists them with brand contracts and rights acquisition, as well as IP licensing and copyright/trademark protection. Kara joined the firm as a member of Capes Sokol’s 2020 Summer Associate Class.
In the Community
Kara is committed to the St. Louis community and provides pro bono legal services to non-profit organizations serving the region. She believes that every person deserves a lawyer who will fight for them, and she is proud to be able to provide these services for those in need. Kara provides pro bono legal services, and is also an active member of the governing board, for the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts. This organization is dedicated to the cultural enrichment of the St. Louis area by providing low-income artists and emerging arts organizations with free legal and accounting assistance. Kara also provides pro bono legal services for clients referred by Legal Services of Eastern Missouri Inc., which organizes a bimonthly clinic at Grace Hill Settlement House that provides low-income entrepreneurs and non-profits with legal assistance for their organizations.
