Capes Sokol Presents Argument in 8th Cir. on Behalf of KC Taxicab Drivers
A Capes Sokol attorney presented oral argument in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in Kansas City Taxi Cab Drivers Association, LLC, et al. v. City of Kansas City, Missouri. Such matter seeks to declare §76-73 of the Kansas City, Missouri taxicab Ordinances unconstitutional and in violation of the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses of the United States Constitution.
Section 76-73, among other things, seeks to:
- (a) reduce the number of outstanding taxicab permits from 600 to 500;
- (b) provide for automatic, annual renewals of taxicab permits to existing taxicab permit holders, even if the number of outstanding taxicab permits exceeds 500 at the time of renewal; and
- (c) requires new taxicab permit applicants to, minimally, apply for ten taxicab permits.
Mark E. Goodman represents a number of taxicab driver associations nationwide before their respective administrative agencies and in state and federal courts.
