Former Assistant Attorney General Joins Capes Sokol

The law firm of Capes Sokol is pleased to announce that Andrew W. Blackwell, a former Missouri Assistant Attorney General, has joined the firm as a Litigation associate.

“We are privileged to have such a capable young attorney joining our firm,” Mark Goodman, Shareholder and Co-Chair of the Litigation group said.  “Andrew will be a great fit for our Litigation team.”

Since 2012, Andrew has served as Assistant Attorney General in the Litigation Division. While at the Office of the Attorney General, Andrew was a key contributor to the West Lake Superfund Site/Bridgeton Landfill litigation. In addition, Andrew worked on behalf of state agencies and their employees in civil rights and employment cases. Andrew has an extensive litigation and trial background, having tried numerous cases in state and federal courts in Missouri.

A University of Missouri School of Law graduate, Andrew was a member of the Order of the Barristers and received multiple honors for excellence in trial advocacy. After graduating in 2012, Andrew dedicated time as an Adjunct Faculty Advisor to the law school coaching the trial and arbitration teams.

Andrew received his B.A. in International Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies from The George Washington University (2009), where he served for two years as the president of the GW Mock Trial Team. During law school, Andrew was a Research Assistant for the Honorable Karen K. Mitchel in the Missouri Western District Court of Appeals.
