Capes Sokol Elects Three New Shareholders

The law firm of Capes Sokol is pleased to announce that Lisa M. Adams, Laura E. Krebs Al-Shathir, and Brian J. Sabin have been elected Shareholders of the firm.

Lisa M. Adams

Lisa M. Adams is a trust and estates attorney who began her career working in real estate and corporate law. A trusted advisor to her clients, she concentrates her practice in estate and wealth planning, trust administration, closely-held business succession, and taxation.

Well known for the time and effort she invests in her clients, Lisa’s practice ranges from traditional estate planning to constructing, designing, and implementing complex intergenerational, international structures designed to achieve income and transfer tax savings.

Laura E. Krebs Al-Shathir

Laura E. Krebs Al-Shathir counsels clients ranging from small and medium size businesses to multi-national companies, as well as non-profits. As outside counsel to her clients, she provides tax and business planning advice in various corporate transactions, including selection and formation of business entities, mergers and acquisitions, executive compensation, and dissolutions and terminations of businesses.

In her tax practice, Laura represents clients’ interests in resolving disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and various State Departments of Revenue, whether guiding them through an income tax or sales and use tax audit or representing them in a tax appeal or in litigation. Laura E. Krebs Al-Shathir was selected by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as a 2018 Women’s Justice Awards – General Practitioner Honoree and a 2014 Up & Coming Lawyer.

Brian J. Sabin

Brian J. Sabin counsels businesses on all types of legal matters, throughout all stages of their lifecycle, from entity formation and startup, to maturity and disposition.  He has also developed a nationwide practice advising employees and businesses with respect to non-compete agreements.  In addition to representing for-profit businesses, Brian advises prominent non-profit organizations throughout the St. Louis region.

As a real estate attorney, Brian represents landlords, tenants, property owners, developers and investors, in real estate transactions and disputes.  He is a frequent author and presenter on legal and policy developments in the short-term property rental industry.  In his banking and finance practice, Brian represents borrowers and lenders, and has led several $100+ million loan transactions.  He was selected by the Super Lawyers attorney rating service as a Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyer-Rising Star in 2017 and was a member of the FOCUS St. Louis, Fall 2015 Emerging Leaders Program.
