Capes Sokol is pleased to announce that John S. Meyer, Jr., Capes Sokol Shareholder, has been elected President of the Loop Trolley Company Board. Meyer succeeds Les Sterman, former leader of East-West Gateway Council of Governments, who held the position for six years before becoming the Vice President of Operations.

Meyer, Jr. “The Loop Trolley is a wonderful asset that connects Forest Park, one of the world’s great public parks, to the Delmar Loop, named one of the 10 Great Streets in America by the American Planning Association. The fixed track, electric heritage trolley system is the result of Joe Edwards’ vision and the hard work and commitment of many.”

Last month, the Loop Trolley Company began testing its third vintage trolley car – a restored 1920s model from Melbourne, Australia. Its capacity is 100 passengers with 50 seated and 50 standing.  The car is expected to be ready for service in late spring 2019. The Trolley Company will expand service to seven days a week at that time.

Loop Trolley Company

The Loop Trolley system is owned by the Loop Trolley Transportation Development District and operated by the Loop Trolley Company, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. The system is a 2.2-mile fixed-track that runs from the University City Library near Kingsland Avenue, east on Delmar Boulevard to DeBaliviere Avenue and then south on DeBaliviere to the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park and back.
