Kahn Named 2020 Legal Champion
Capes Sokol proudly announces that Michael A. Kahn, Senior Counsel, has been named a 2020 Legal Champion by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. The award, presented during the annual Missouri Lawyers Awards, is awarded to, “plaintiffs’ or defense lawyers, not based on the size of verdicts, but the importance of the principle or policy at stake.” Mike is being recognized for his successful representation of the “Joyful Noise” artists in the Katy Perry “Dark Horse” copyright-infringement case.
“Throughout his career, Mike has championed the causes of numerous ‘little guys–artists whose creative works have been taken by much larger companies,” said Jonathan S. Jones, Capes Sokol Associate and a member of the Gray v. Perry trial team. “Mike rarely credits himself when asked about the headline-grabbing case, but this verdict was truly the result of his legal skill, tenacity, and commitment to the client and the values that inform his law practice—justice, fairness, and creative integrity.”
Mike is one of the twenty-nine honorees selected statewide for the annual Missouri Lawyers Awards. In addition to the Legal Champions category, members of the Missouri legal community will be recognized in the following categories: Lawyers of the Year, Influential Lawyers, Law Firm Leader, and Influential Appellate Advocates. He will be recognized with the other honorees in late January at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Louis-Chesterfield in Chesterfield. In addition, he will be profiled in a special edition issue of Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
