Boxerman Receives 2018 Top Legal Innovation – Emerging Practice Area Award
Capes Sokol proudly announces that Sanford J. Boxerman has been honored with the “Top Legal Innovation – Emerging Practice Area” award for the firm’s Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology practice group. The award, presented by Missouri Lawyers Media, is awarded to, “firms or attorneys who identify and support a practice area in an emerging legal field and are among the first to develop expertise.”

Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology Practice Group
The firm’s Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology Practice Group includes or is comprised of members of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Internal Investigations; Intellectual Property; Tax Controversy and Litigation; and Business & Finance groups. This group advises clients across all industries related to transactions involving virtual currency and related technologies. This includes legal counsel on such matters as smart contracts, initial coin offerings, compliance with regulatory requirements such as registration as a money services business, tax treatment of virtual currency transactions, and representation in federal and state criminal and other investigations.

Sandy Boxerman
Sandy Boxerman is one of the founding shareholders of Capes Sokol. He obtained his law degree from Harvard Law School. Sandy represents individuals and entities in white collar criminal prosecutions, internal investigations and criminal and civil tax matters. Sandy also counsels clients in the digital currency and Blockchain space, particularly with respect to regulatory and tax matters. Sandy chairs Capes Sokol’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Internal Investigations practice group, as well as the firm’s Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology practice group. Sandy co-teaches the tax fraud prosecutions course in the graduate tax program as an adjunct faculty member at the Washington University School of Law. He is an inaugural member of the Digital Currency and Ledger Defense Coalition.
