Capes Sokol is proud to welcome Stephen M. Hoeplinger as counsel in our firm’s Litigation practice group. Steve has a diverse legal background and a deep understanding of commercial, real estate, and employment litigation, representing both businesses and individuals.

“Steve is an experienced and accomplished litigator,” said Traci D. Pupillo, a member of the Litigation practice group. “He combines a thorough knowledge of the law with a keen sense of strategy to get outstanding results for clients. We are excited to add him to Capes Sokol’s commercial litigation team.”

Prior to his current role, Steve served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. There, he held the position of a unit leader in the Litigation Section, focusing on consumer protection, employment, and civil rights litigation. He represented the State of Missouri in federal and state courts, leading teams of attorneys and achieving outstanding outcomes across various cases.

In addition to his practice, Steve’s commitment to justice and his dedication to pro bono work are evident through his involvement with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office in Lowell, Massachusetts, and his role as a Staff Attorney at Interfaith Legal Services for Immigrants located in St. Louis, Missouri. In the latter capacity, he represented indigent clients in immigration matters, including complex cases involving deportation hearings, asylum, legal status, naturalization interviews, and benefit applications.

Steve received his law degree from the Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 2009, after graduating with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Television, and Theatre and Political Science from the University of Notre Dame in 2005.
